    Richard and his wife Linda have 7 children between them (6 of his and 1 of hers), 8 grand-children and 2 great grand-children. He is not as old as this might suggest because he started very early in life. With all these people running around you could be forgiven if you were to mistake one of Richard’s former occupations to be that of a Producer. He has (not necessarily in the order given):

    * worked as a door-to-door salesman selling encyclopaedias to families,
    * worked as a door-to-door salesman selling cookware to single working girls,
    * worked as a door-to-door salesman selling shoes to anybody,
    * worked as a stock clerk in the Winn Dixie Super Market in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi,
    * spray painted enamel siding for petrol stations,
    * worked in construction,
    * played guitar in a rock and roll band,
    * been a deck-hand on a shrimp boat,
    * managed a number of rock and roll bands,
    * been a docker on the waterfront in New Orleans,
    * collected bad debts for a loan company,
    * worked on a land survey team,
    * been a butcher in a grocery store,
    * worked as a bartender,
    * worked as an organiser for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (1 day) picketing an electrical plant in the deepest part of backwoods Mississippi (he lasted until the police were called and asked the boss where his permit allowing him to picket was and the boss said it was the First Amendment to the United States Constitution which, by the way, was not the right answer as it landed the whole lot of them in jail for the night),
    * worked in a number of increasingly important roles on the Apollo Space Programme and
    * worked as a consultant with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

    And all of this before he was thirty. By this time he had also fathered six children (where did he find the time?)

    While working with the US Government as a consultant and Project Manager in Washington DC he and his family lived on a farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia where they raised a lot of their own food such as vegetables, chickens, pigs and other things that the children either didn’t like (vegetables) or liked so much that they couldn’t bear to eat (animals). It was then that he decided to move to California where, besides working full time, Richard completed a 4-year University Degree in Business in 24 months.

    Richard then went back to work in Washington DC and was subsequently asked by his employer to transfer to their European Division to work on the British Income Tax System Project – Computerisation of PAYE. He was later promoted to a Director of the UK Company but after 18 months at Director Level he realised that he wasn’t having fun anymore, resigned and started his own consultancy company.

    Richard’s varied background and experiences has made him a highly sought after Project Trouble Shooter, Project Manager and Professional Speaker. His background also provides him with fertile ground for his speeches and presentations. If you show up for one of Richard’s talks you will, judging from feedback received so far in his career, enjoy listening to it. One thing is for sure – he will enjoy presenting it.
